" Thoughts from Idaho "

As an artist and one who enjoys nature I have always looked for the detail. Yes I overlook the obvious as I am reminded by my wife often. The clothes someone had on, the item on the wall of a scene on tv, etc. I am always looking for something that makes me say " wow". Doesn't have to be one of the seven wonders of the world or the brightest flower in the garden or the most beautiful lady in the crowd. I can appreciate the huge mountains of our West or the small hills of Indiana. Or maybe the large oak or the smallest plant in my garden. Maybe the astoundingly beautiful lady in the crowd but most likely would be drawn to the one with the kindest face. Every day I try be thankful for all that is around me, all my blessings, my family and my health. There have been challenges, large, frightening ones. In most cases these have been opportunities for learning and have turned out to be blessings. In the future I may touch on them. There have been friends gained and friends lost but no friends forgotten. I have my own philosphy of life and I will also share some of that in the future maybe. Life is a gift, not an accident. I believe we are all responsible for taking care of that life whether it is ours or our neighbors, our town or our planet. I don't think most people would give a gift to thier child and then tell them that they could do whatever they wanted with it, destroy it, abuse it or fail to maintain it. And that's how I feel about our own selves and our planet. Well, I have moved to a new house recently that we had built for us and am currently working on a Japanese style garden in the front and a Charleston style garden in the back. Difficult at this time of the year here in Idaho with the heat of the day here in the desert but am finding ways to do it. I look forward to hearing from others who garden and invite you to contribute to this space and share stories, etc. Finally, anyone who is inspired to write in response to anything I have said is invited to comment or add to this blog. Much more is to come about me, my town, my state, etc. So long for now.
